If you are looking for a career in law enforcement, there are a variety of positions at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. With over 30 specialized units, we definitely have a wide range of workplaces available to all levels of law enforcement. We offer entry level jobs as well as positions for those who join the chain of command.

They also receive the full entry salary during their studies at the Police Academy and start earning it after graduation. Uncertified candidates are supported by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department during the police academy. You pay for your EOT courses, you are paid for the academy and you earn your full entry salary after your attendance. For information on Equivalence Training (EOT), please visit the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website or the Fort Lauderdale Police Department website. Certified police applicants must have completed a degree or training at Broward College and qualify for an abbreviated field training program, depending on how quickly they get through the program, which can take up to eight weeks. If you can't finish the police academy, you can still complete a course or Eot course in Florida.
