Water Taxi: more than just a boat ride!
Did you know that Fort Lauderdale is often referred to as the Venice of the Americas? Take a ride aboard a local water taxi and you’ll see why. The Intercoastal waterway, along with several connecting rivers and canals, make much of the city easily accessible by water.
With 13 stops around town, including Beach Place, the Riverfront and Las Olas Boulevard, the water taxis will get you to all of the city’s highlights. At just $15 a day for unlimited use, the water taxis are the best value for transportation in the area -- other than your own two feet.
The value doesn’t end there. While on the water taxi, your guides will give you fun facts and the history of the area, including the scoop on many water front mansions that are occupied by famous people. Locals can have unlimited use of the water taxi services for just $180 a year. If you are traveling with your family, ask about the family pack discount, which is good for two adults and up to three children. Children under 3 ride free.
For visitors trying to get the lay of the land, the entire water taxi loop takes just under 3 hours. Spread out the trip over the course of a day by getting on and off as much as you like. Stop for lunch at Beach Place, hit up the galleria mall in the afternoon and end at Las Olas Boulevard for a night on the town.
Generally, water taxis come every 15 – 30 minutes, and there are express water taxis that run solely between the beach and downtown.

The fleet of water taxis is comprised of 26 – 42 foot boats, with holding capacities ranging from 27 – 72 people.
