Museum of Discovery and ScienceIf your kids are intrigued by science experiments, space exploration, gravity and nature, the Museum of Discovery and Science will provide a full day of learning and fun. The Great Gravity Clock in the main atrium of the museum is more than 50 feet tall, and it uses kinetic energy to tell time with the rolling of balls on different levels of the clock. At the Everglades exhibit, kids will get a hands-on look at the ecosystem and the restoration of this natural habitat. The mysteries of space exploration are explained at the Runways to Rockets exhibit. There's also an IMAX theater at MODS, and visitors can buy tickets to see newly released children's movies as well as educational movies about animals, science, space and more. Summer camps at MODS provide excitement and education during the dragging summer months. Kids can attend themed summer camp adventures such as Dissecting Fairy Tales, Game On, Design Squad, Fabulous Food, Candy Camp, Space Explorers, Animals and more. Contact the museum for more details. Visit the museum's calendar to view all special events, including IMAX shows, special exhibits and cool weekend activities. You can't have food in the exhibit area, but if you bring a picnic lunch, you can enjoy at the park on the river across the street from MODS. There's also a Subway on the first floor of the museum, near the IMAX entrance. At the IMAX theater, snacks and beverages are available for purchase. If you've been to the museum and love what you've seen, consider becoming a member and show your support. Members receive free admission for a year, invites to special museum events, discounts on parties and gift shop purchases and free admission to other museums across the country. - by Jessica Bates, Fort Lauderdale Reporter for HelloMetro (Click to leave a message) Jessica BatesJessica is a freelance journalist residing in lovely southern California.
